Undoubtedly, make-up is such a vital part of our daily lives; especially if you’re a girl. Not only it will boost your confidence, make-up allows you to alter your looks without any complicated and painful procedures. Around the globe, the wide variety of facial features causes differences among make-up styles and products. The most apparent difference would be western make-up and Asian make-up; such as Japanese or Korean make-up.
Although generalizing the whole country’s make-up style would be inappropriate, we can analyze the differences based on the majority. For example, Korean make-up tends to create straight, thick eyebrows; not overly done and gives face a soft, natural, and youthful look. Using eyebrows mascara, you can create such look by applying it subtly, and make sure to match it with your hair color. On the other hand, most American make-up is a bit stronger; with arched and thin eyebrows that oozes strong personality and confidence.
Korean eye make-up also revolves around natural look, with natural-colored eye shadow and winged-down eyeliner. Meanwhile, American make-up is more about vivid-colored eye shadow and cat-eyed eyeliner style. Fake eyelashes are often used, contrary to Korean make-up that wants to achieve a natural look.
The base make-up among the two styles also varies greatly. While Korean make-up aims for fair, blemish-free, milky skin; American make-up aims for tanned skin, emphasized by bronzing and contouring. The recent 2016 make-up from America would be baked and strobing make-up, which is easier to be done than contouring.
Last but not least, if you’re aiming for Korean make-up style, stay away from overly-plumped lips like Kylie Jenner’s. Small, well-proportioned lips are desired, with natural-toned lip coloring products. Western make-up focuses more on luscious and big lips, so you’ll probably need some lip liner to achieve the look.
Regardless of our preference, make-up is done differently by each and every one. The aim is still the same, however, which is to enhance one’s appearance. Don’t hesitate trying out different make-up styles, and find the one you like the most!
